Since its inaugural year, Dance Prix Indonesia continues to strive to be the most prestigious ballet and contemporary dance competition in the nation. This year Dance Prix Indonesia is held at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta from April 13th - 15th. A total of 320 candidates including international participants from Singapore and Malaysia are taking part in Preliminary Round on April 13th after which selected finalists will compete on April 14th.
Masterclasses will be held on April 15th for candidates who would like to take the opportunity to learn from our jury panel. Ms. Juliana Tanjo, founder and managing director of Dance Prix Indonesia has assembled a distinguished panel of 3 judges from around the world for DPI 2018. The line-up includes Simon Pointon, Former Principal Dancer with The Royal New Zealand; Han Kee Juan, Principal of Singapore Ballet Academy; and Maria Sascha Khan, Former Principal Dancer with Ekaterinburg Ballet.
While the jury deliberates during the Final on 14th April, the audience will enjoy two short performances by two principal dancers of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma brought together by the Embassy of Italy and Italian Cultural Institute, Jakarta. Claudio Cocino and Susanna Salvi will perform a contemporary choreography "Stabat Mater" by Benjamin Pech and a classical ballet piece "Sleeping Beauty Grand pas de deux."
Finalists will compete for scholarships to distinguished ballet schools around the world, trophies and monetary prizes. DPI 2018 scholarship partners are Ena Ballet Studio (Japan), Universal Ballet (Korea), Singapore Ballet Academy and V.Chabukiani Ballet State School (Georgia).
